A few months ago my friend Kim asked me to make a cake for her dad's 60th birthday. Kim and I have been friends for about 12 years now, so of course I jumped at the chance to make her dad something for his big day. He's a keen fisherman so we decided to go with a vanilla cake with a personalised fisherman topper.
I marbled the fondant to give it some water ripples. The only non-edible part of the cake was the fishing rod, which was made from a wooden skewer and some dental floss (don't laugh!)
By all reports the cake was a hit. Just what I like to hear!
