Niki's mum C asked me a while back to make Niki's baptism cake. We had to feed 100 people, but C was concerned that a tiered cake might look a bit too wedding-y. We decided to go a different route and have a small cutting cake along with two large 'kitchen cakes' (iced but not decorated) to be served to the guests.
Niki's baptism cake was milk chocolate mud cake torted and coated in dusty rose vanilla buttercream.
The cake was decorated with roses, blossoms, fantasy flowers and a butterfly. Niki's name and the banner were piped with royal icing and I got to try out my pearl mould for the edging.
It was also the first time I'd done a fondant covered board. I love the look of it - so classy and elegant.
Congratulations to C and her family on Niki's baptism!
