Some 'manly' cupcakes for the boy

It's more difficult than you think to create a cupcake that isn't too girly. Without incorporating 'manly' items like construction hats, drills and footballs, it's hard to come up with a design that doesn't cross the feminine line.

The boy asked me to make some cupcakes to take to work to celebrate his birthday, and despite battling a cold I agreed to throw together something sweet for his work colleagues.

These cupcakes were a mixture of vanilla bean and chocolate cakes topped with fondant. I went for a blue and brown colour scheme to keep them 'boyish'.
